Vaifala "Pineapple Drink"

VAIFALA 

Looking for a drink that is light and refreshing? Then try out Samoa's classic "Vaifala". Vaifala is a traditional Samoan drink of which there are a few variants. The main ingredient is pineapple which combines with either fresh young coconut, or coconut cream.

Ingredients

• 1/2 of Golden Circle Pineapple pieces 425g
• 1/2 of a Nestle Condense milk 395g
• Sugar 
• 1250 ml of fresh water

Directions

1. Place the pineapple pieces and about half the fruit syrup in a large bowl.
2. Pour in the sweetened condensed milk and water, then mix.
3. Add sugar optional (Ideally 2 tablespoons).
4. Chill well, or if serving immediately, throw in some ice.
5. Before serving, stir well, because the pineapple has a tendency to settle, then pour into a large glass and serve with a spoon (this is a drink that you both drink and eat).

Alternative way of making Vaifala

Savaii popo coconut cream
½ of a pineapple pieces 440g
1 litre of water
1 tsp. of natural vanilla extract
Ice (lots & lots of ice!!!)

Add 3 table spoon of Savaii popo coconut cream and blend it together with the water and chunks of pineapple. Also add the vanilla extract. Once smooth, pour over lots of ice.
